About Us

Our Mission Statement:

Columbia After Dark's mission is to provide

 an interdenominational Christian friendship

group where all singles can come together in a

safe environment for fellowship and worship.

Statement of Faith

  1. The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God.

  2. There is one God.  This is not the same god of other religions that simply has a different name.

  3. All of us are lost in sin and totally helpless.  One sin is enough to separate us from God eternally - because He is totally Holy and sin cannot exist where He is.

  4. Redemption from our sin is totally and only by faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot earn our salvation, no matter how good we try to be or how many good things we try to accomplish, we cannot be that perfect.

  5. God loves us - an all encompassing, never ending, unconditional love, and He wants us to spend eternity with Him. Jesus Christ died so that we can be redeemed - this is why we can claim our forgiveness from sin - Christ's death paid the price of our sin and wiped the slate clean so we can be acceptable to a Holy God.

  6. The RESULT of salvation in the life of the Christian is holiness, good works, and all are done for the glory of God. We aren't perfect, and we still live in an imperfect world and with other imperfect Christians, but we are forgiven and God looks at us through His Son's righteousness, not our own.

  7. At death, the Christian's soul passes immediately into the presence of God and the unbeliever's soul is eternally separated from God.

How To Know Christ:

Starting a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
will be the most living-changing experience you will ever have.
Know how CAN you begin a personal relationship with Christ?  You have felt Him calling you for a long time now, you might even go to church regularly because you are trying to find Him.  You know that Christians aren't perfect, but you also see that Christians who seem "for real" are different somehow.  The Gospel (which means "Good News") is so simple, it doesn't seem possible, but God WANTS us to find Him. He WANTS us to have a personal relationship with Him... THAT's what the Good News is all about!

There's only four facts you need to know:

1. GOD LOVES YOU.  HE WANTS TO GIVE YOU ETERNAL LIFE AND HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

However, we do not all experience God's love because...

2. SIN SEPARATES US FROM GOD AND HIS GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE.

Everyone has sinned. "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God." (Romans 3:23) God is a merciful God, but He is also a Holy God and everyone deserves God's judgment. "For the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) Our sin separates us from God. Sin cannot enter Heaven and we cannot solve our sin problem ourselves, but...

3. GOD HAS DONE FOR US WHAT WE COULD NOT DO FOR OURSELVES.

Jesus died for our sins. "But God demonstrates His own love towards us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) Jesus is the only way to God. Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6)

To have a personal relationship with Him and receive His gift of life eternal with Him in Heaven...

4. WE MUST PERSONALLY RECEIVE JESUS CHRIST AS SAVIOR AND LORD.

This means a personal decision - YOU need to decide this - not your parents or your family or your church.  It is an individual decision. "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, that is to those who believe in His name." (John 1:12)

To place your faith for salvation in Jesus Christ:

1. Acknowledge your sin:  You must acknowledge that somewhere, sometime, in your life, YOU have sinned.  We have all sinned and we have all fallen short of perfection.

2. Place your faith in Jesus Christ:  "Faith" is trusting that Jesus can forgive your sins because He paid the penalty for them by His death on the cross. "For by grace you have been saved through faith." (Ephesians 2:8)

3. Commit to Jesus as your Lord: Give Jesus control of your life. "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." (Romans 10:9-10,13).  Just TELL Him that is what you want to do - that you want to believe in Him as the Lord and Savior of your life.  Talk to Him as you would with a friend... acknowledge your sin, tell Him you believe that His death paid the penalty for those sins, and ask Him to be your personal Savior.  Seem too simple?  He WANTS to make it easy for us to come to Him.  Why?  Because He loves you.. yes, He loves YOU.

If you would like to talk to someone about your decision for Christ, please contact a Board member on Monday nights, or email .  You will also need a small group and/or church where you can learn more about your new relationship with Him.  We can help you find just the right place with people that share your interests and can get excited about your new-found love for God.  Celebrate!  You are starting a new life today!  That doesn't mean your life will always be perfect or easy, but it means you never have to walk alone again.
