Oct & Nov SERVICE PROJECTS:

*SOCKS FOR THE HOMELESS   We have 25 pairs, we need more socks, bring them to any CAD event!  We are collecting new socks for the homeless.  Size 10-13 works best and fits everyone.  These new socks will be given to the homeless to keep their feet warm during the cold months.  Look in your sock drawer and see how many socks you have, then think of our homeless.  Let’s share some warmth for those in need!

*OPERATION PLASTIC BAG  Let me explain - Healing Properties, Inc, a local non profit that I work for is collecting clothing and household items. I always say that most of our clients come to us with nothing but clothing in trash bags; so Maryann had a great idea. She is going to purchase the heavy duty trash bags, give them out, this will not cost you a thing, only time to do the collecting and sorting. All you have to do is to take your trash bag home and fill it with clothes and things that you aren't using and would like to donate to those in need and get a tax receipt. Yes, this is also where you can give those used socks for the homeless. Healing Properties is in need of clothing, household items to include kitchen stuff - (pots, pans, silverware, cups, glasses, plates, bowls, toaster, microwave) (bathroom towels and wash cloths), (furniture - beds, dressers, couch, chair, kitchen tables with chairs) (bedding - sheets for single, double and queen size beds, blankets, comforters, etc..) Yes, used items and mismatched items are okay, we are most grateful for anything you can donate, if you have more than you can bring to a CAD event, please call or email me and I can meet you. Thanks!  Debbie Sellers, 309-0059

This newsletter is an offering of COLUMBIA AFTER DARK.  It is sent out by email (only) every week, listing not only CAD events, but also other events we’ve heard about that we think singles might enjoy. There are over 800 email addresses on the mailing list including current and past CAD participants, organizations, churches, and community groups.  Please let us know what you want to promote to singles -  any classes, events, groups, conferences, concerts, etc., that singles in the Columbia, SC, area would enjoy.  We are especially looking for events that promote FRIENDSHIPS.  We will list most events that do not conflict with CAD’s Monday Night Programs or the Singles Dances on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays each month.  The Singles Dances support the CAD programs, so please participate whenever you can, or send others our way when you cannot be there.  Through these donations and others, we are able to consistently offer some of the highest quality programs in the area on Monday nights.  To subscribe/unsubscribe, ------------------------ Be sure to note “newsletter” in the subject of the email.

- - Directions to Monday Night Columbia After Dark programs: We are meeting in the larger party room at the back of Carolina Wings in West Columbia. You can order food anytime before/during/after CAD at the door of the party room.  It’s easier to pay when you place your order, and please give your name to the wait staff so they can easily find you to deliver your food to your table.
